Metaverse Platform Horizon Worlds Introduces ‘Quests’ to Encourage User Engagement

Meta is introducing quests and rewards to all users of its virtual reality live-interactive experience, Horizon Worlds. These quests are accessible to anyone with a Meta Quest VR headset. Initially tested with Giant Paddle Mini Golf, Meta has now expanded the quests to include Arena Clash and Bad Roommates. Users can earn rewards such as additional clothing choices for their avatars.

Meta clearly designed many of the tasks (and rewards) to encourage users to interact more with their avatars – a business that has lost billions of dollars. The main quests are “try on the clothing avatar reward you’ve earned” and “open backpack and change emote” – not exactly Frodo’s journey to the Mordor level quest, but some might be interesting. Quests are available in the Worlds menu, and each tells you how much reward you’ll get for completing it. Meta claims that it will be added over time.

The Meta Horizon Worlds update also includes a new quick action menu that can pause the game and allow you to mute, track, or block people you encounter. While Meta fixed some bugs, whenever you find one, you can now report them by clicking the home button four times in a row or holding AB/XY.
